VIRÉ-CLESSÉ Climat « Sous Les Plantes »

Our Viré-Clesse Climat «Sous Les Plantes » shares only the Appellation Viré-Clessé with « La Verchère ». Indeed, the « Sous les Plantes » is situated South of Viré on a terroir reminiscent of Clessé, on a more silty soil. « I beg your pardon ? ? Did you say Silty ? ? » Well, yes, great Burgundy may also grow on soil other than clay and limestone. The soil is ploughed and we have selected very fine 55 to 75 year-old vines. A full-bodied wine with gobs of fruit.

Typically rich and mature, typically 2008 with its added fine acidity.

  Technical notes:
  Age of vines : 1/3 55 years, 2/3 75 years
  Surface : approx. 0.25 ha (0.60 acre)
Soil: Clay and silt. Facing East. South of Viré, near Clessé.
  Altitude : 200 metres (650 ft)
Vinification & Ageing : Hand-picked grapes, whole berries pressing, 100% vinified and aged in oak barrel (of 228 liters each) for 11 months.
